Visit from the past...

So today I found some old artist trading cards that I did back in high school! My teacher was really into the idea of making 3x5 pieces of art and trading them with other students so these are the only ones I have left, thought I'd share. :)

The mystery of the Hatbox Ghost in Disneyland's Haunted Mansion has always fascinated me. This frightening face can be seen all over Mansion marketing from the 1960s to this day, however due to technical problems, or maybe even some haunting, the ghost was removed from the attic scene before opening day, never to be seen again.

Mountains

Mountains have been a tradition at Disney Parks around the world for over 50 years. The Mountain are visually stunning but also play an important psychological role to Guests brave enough to scale their peaks. Mountains are mysterious, dangerous and are only for the brave at heart. They hide their internal workings and offer no peek at what lies inside. This kind of idea was exactly what Walt Disney and his Imagineers wanted to do when designing Disneyland. Up til that point in time (and still to this day), anyone could build a roller coaster on a parking lot and people would ride it. However, when you hide all of that steel and distract the Guest from what truly lies inside, those are the attractions that they will remember for a lifetime.

The Matterhorn: What more can one say about the majesty of Walt's Mountain, his mighty Matterhorn? Other than being the first of its kind (tubular steel track) coaster, it's a brilliantly simple but an exhilarating ride, with some nice story touches and great theming. It's still surprising that with its success and popularity Disney chose never to "clone" it for another park but it stands as something beautifully unique to Walt's original masterpiece Disneyland.

Space Mountain: The baddest, fastest and scariest of the Disney Mountain range. Who remembers the cookie asteroids? Well I sure do.

Splash Mountain: Splash is a great attraction. Beautifully themed, a well told story anchors everything, and who hasn't caught themselves humming, (or skipping and singing) Zip-a-dee-do-dah, zip-a-dee-day after riding, the music is wonderful! The log ride is both relaxing and thrilling, and seems to touch all the emotions while riding. 

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad: The different Parks various incarnations of the ride are equally as beautiful, and those colorful peaks and spires are a reassuring sight as they soar in the distance as you approach the land it dominates. Big Thunder is truly the wildest ride in the wilderness and to this day lives up to that statement.

Lastly, we will hop over to the "other park" and conclude our expedition with a trip to the legendary Grizzly Peak. At 1,401 feet tall, this is the landmark for the Golden State, it's iconic design, lush surroundings and playful ride system makes Guests feel as if they have seen all of California's national parks in one visit.
